Our permanent exhibitions now include a unique collection of minerals and rocks, which is one of the most comprehensive collections on display in Finland in terms of scientific importance and scope. The collection includes samples of more than half of Finland's known minerals, which is an impressive scope for a private collection. The collection is the result of 25 years of work by Ilkka Järvelä and was donated to the Forssa Nature Museum in 2023. Many are surprised to find that such a diverse collection comes from Finland alone! The samples are carefully labeled and well lit.
The mineral and stone collection is accompanied by stunning and inspiring stone jewellery and stone inlay work by artist Eva Jarne. These outstanding artworks depict and highlight the beauty of Finnish nature with refined natural materials.
